Spring Comes Early
This lovely weather means we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy the garden and begin our preparations for spring. After a morning of raking and clearing, there’s nothing quite like relaxing with friends.
Abbeyside Oscars
Anything Hollywood can do, we can do better!!! The Oscars came to Abbeyside on Sunday afternoon. With vol-au-vents and prosecco at the ready, residents and staff had an awards ceremony to rival anything held across the pond.
Little Visitors
We’ve been treated to a visit by possibly our youngest ever visitor this week. It was smiles all around as our little visitor brought back memories and stories from when our own children were babies.
Valentine’s Day
Residents have been very busy over the Valentine’s period. A special Valentine’s service was held by the Reverend Sonia Palmer. We are fortunate enough to call Reverend Palmer a friend and residents and staff always enjoy her visits.
Following the service, some residents spent the afternoon creating chocolate strawberries…….
Happy Valentine’s Day!!
Enjoying the Winter Snow
Spending time in the snow is certainly one way to blow off the cobwebs. Snowball fight anyone?
Keeping Active
Abbeyside Care Group is committed to encouraging physical activity. What better way to do this than with some music and a dance. Every move counts!!!
The Big Garden Birdwatch 2019… The results are in!
Although the weather hasn’t really lent itself to bird watching, the frost didn’t deterred us. Woodpigeons, Robins and Blackbirds were some of the feathery visitors we identified over the weekend. Thank you to all who participated-the results have now been forwarded to the RSPB.
Burns Night Celebrations
Residents at Abbeyvale, Abbeyside and the Grove, celebrated Burns Night with a traditional Burns Night supper today. With tartan at the ready, proceedings began with the Selkirk Grace.
RAF serviceman Richard Bond ensured that the haggis was piped in with great pomp and ceremony.
Having addressed and toasted the haggis, all sat down to a traditional Burns Night lunch of haggis, neeps and tatties, followed by cranachan and a wee dram!
Getting Garden Ready
We’ve been busy getting the garden ready for the Big Garden Birdwatch. We’re confident that with these fat cakes, we’ll receive plenty of feathery visitors.
An Afternoon of Creativity
In November, the lovely ladies from the Loft Activity Centre, Kinloss paid us a visit at Abbeyside. With an afternoon of pottery painting on the agenda, we could never have imagined that there’d be so much creativity under one roof. A lovely time was had by all.
Residents are now proud owners of mugs which are truly unique.
