Abbeyvale Nursing Home, The Grove Care Home and Abbeyside Nursing Home are all equipped to provide specialist Nursing Care to Adults who may require a more specialised Care Plan for a range of Conditions.
Our Care Staff have a wealth of knowledge to enable them to provide excellent care and support to behaviours which can sometimes be challenging and where possible we encourage Residents, their families and other Health Care Professionals to be actively involved in managing an individual’s care. Our approach is to maintain the highest level of independence and autonomy for the Resident to enhance their quality of life.
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted or severely reduced, depriving the brain of oxygen. Symptoms can vary in severity and presentation, but may result in paralysis, confusion, difficulty in swallowing and lack of balance and coordination.
In some cases, those people who have suffered a stroke may require long-term support to help them manage any physical difficulties they have and emotional challenges they face to help them regain as much independence as possible. The process of rehabilitation is dependent on the Resident’s symptoms and their severity.
As well as assisting with the physical challenges, an emphasis is also placed upon Psychological, Social and Spiritual wellbeing for the Resident and their family. We maintain a positive and patient approach to care to assist with the adjustment required for all involved.
Parkinson’s is a progressive disease of the nervous system, characterised by a tremor, muscle rigidity and slow, in precise movements. Other symptoms include depression, insomnia and memory loss.
As there is currently no cure for Parkinson’s our aim is to promote independence and a sense of wellbeing to those living with the disease, to enhance their quality of life. Support is provided by our fully trained Care Staff and Nurses in terms of diet, medication, physiotherapy, recreational therapy and the promotion of developing trusting relationships between Resident, Carer and Relatives.
